Konami's Late 1993 Was Already Three Studios
Volume I caught Konami in the four years its cabinet voice was the brand. The seam to Volume II was already on the studio's desk by late 1993 — three doors, one house style.
Nothing matches.
Super Famicom · SNES · 1992
The 1991 arcade game was a contract priced in quarters. The 1992 SNES port rebuilt almost every system around replay — checkpoints, a player-triggered throw verb, and Mode 7 used to choreograph a boss.
NES · Famicom · 1993
The 1990 SNES port lost Guy, the Industrial stage, two-player co-op, and the female enemies. The chibi NES cart rebuilt the arcade game whole in 1993 — and shipped as a parody.
Game Boy Advance · 2003
Hudson Soft built the GBA's finest action game and gave it a title only 1970s TV fans could decode. Twenty-two years of $300 cartridges later, the mistake has been corrected.
Long-form criticism of older games that hold up today — no nostalgia required.
